Our ForUS Board December Update

17 December 2021

At first, I was quite nervous when I got elected for the FORUS Board, as this was the first Cohort to exist. There was no bar to aim for, there was no playbook or manual to follow and the pressure of unknown expectations was a little daunting. I was familiar with some Board members, but others were new faces for me.

Over a period of last 9 month, there were highs and lows, there were moments when ‘imposter syndrome’ would creep in, causing me to think and question if I’m good enough for this or am I actually making a difference to witnessing some of the initiatives proposed coming to fruition? The positive feedback has been incredibly reassuring for me, and tells me ‘YES, I can do it’.

I remember one of my teacher’s wise words; “You’ll have many competitions in life, you’ll win some and you’ll lose some, but what will define your character, is how you fought for the win and what you learnt from either outcome.”

My time with the Board so far has been challenging, exciting and enlightening. I’ve met some amazing people, travelled up and down the country visiting various offices, made some invaluable connections, learnt from my peers and colleagues meanwhile working with Carly delivering Local Client projects.

I can’t wait for the new cohort to join us on this exciting journey.

We actively encourage anyone who has any questions or wishes to bring any comments or thoughts to the Board’s attention. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us.
