The FORUS Board Blog Update

31 August 2022

Guess who!

Cohort 2 of the FORUS Board have been going strong for 5 months now, and what better way to celebrate than getting to know the members in a slightly more DISTINCTIVE way!

Below are baby photos of each member of the FORUS Board, as well as some quick-fire questions to learn more about each person without it being the usual “what’s your favourite food, what’s your favourite film etc.” (although we’re keen to know that too!).

So… can you guess who’s who?

WHO AM I?

Aside from necessities, what’s one thing you couldN’T go a day without?

Apart from basics, mental peace and a positive mindset are two important things I couldn’t live without on a day-to-day basis.

If you could choose onE superpower, what would it be?

Flying would be very helpful. I wouldn’t have to pay for transportation to go home or even to travel overseas!

WHO AM I?

If money were no issue, what would you do with your time?

I’d love to open an animal sanctuary.

What career advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t sell yourself short by taking the first offer that comes your way. It took my career a while to recover from this.

WHO AM I?

What’s your favourite random fact?

I was told the other day that a Cadbury Flake’s impossible to melt, and that the 10 Peaks Challenge team took one up Scafell Pike to test it out… Not sure what the results were though!

What do you dislike that everyone else seems to like?

Ketchup as well as Salt and Vinegar Crisps… The smell alone makes me want to vomit.

WHO AM I?

What do you enjoy spending YOUR money on?

Desserts, desserts, and more desserts!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever received was to never let mistakes / hurdles get you down or stop you achieving your goals.

This mirrors one of my favourite quotes from Muhammad Ali when he said: “It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe”.

It’s the little things; whether they’re difficulties or mistakes made along the journey, it’s these that we should acknowledge, learn from and keep going.

WHO AM I?

When did you first feel like an adult?

When I got my first payslip.

What’s your biggest regret to date?

I don’t have any. I believe everything happens for a reason and every decision, piece of success and every mistake you make will lead you to the opportunities you were meant to have.

WHO AM I?

What do you like that everyone else seems to dislike?

Cleaning and audit planning.

If you didn’t work in this industry, what field would you pursue?

Teaching: as I enjoy training others, I’m rather bossy, and I could talk for England!

WHO AM I?

What area of your life would you most like to improve?

My ability to say ‘no’ to things, in fairness of my own mental health as it’s hugely important and at times goes on the back burner!

What’s one fact that few people know about you?

I’m actually a failed magician – many misspent hours during my youth, however I just couldn’t quite manage it.
