Why does my company need an audit?
Your company will usually need an audit if it meets two of the following criteria:
Periods commencing before 5 April 2025 | Periods commencing after 5 April 2025
Requirement | Threshold | Requirement | Threshold
Turnover | £10.2m | Turnover | £15m
Balance sheet total (total assets) | £5.1m | Balance sheet total (total assets) | £7.5m
No. of employees | 50 employees | No. of employees | 50 employees |
If 10% or more of your shareholders have requested for an audit to be carried out you will require an audit.
There is a two-year rule for private limited companies, which means your business will need to have ticked two of the above boxes for two out of three financial years (the current accounting year and the previous two).
