We’re proud to announce that we have officially achieved carbon neutral status. Through our ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, we’ve successfully offset 19 tonnes of carbon by supporting an impactful environmental initiative in the Brazilian Amazon.
This achievement comes through our partnership with the CIKEL Brazilian Amazon REDD APD Project, which works to prevent emissions that would have been caused by planned deforestation in the Paragominas Municipality of the Para state, Brazil. The project’s primary activity focuses on halting the deforestation activities on this land and opting instead to conserve the forest area. In addition, the project promotes limited forest management under Forest Stewardship Council® Certification (FSC®) with Low Impact Logging (SFMLIL) practices, ensuring that the forest remains sustainable and protected for future generations.
Not only does this project contribute to environmental preservation, but it also strengthens social development efforts in the region. The project has been focused on enhancing its sustainable practices, including improving biodiversity monitoring at the RCC (REDD+ Carbon Credit) as part of its FSC certification and ongoing REDD activities. By supporting these efforts, we’re making a meaningful contribution to the preservation of one of the world’s most vital ecosystems.
In total, this initiative will avoid the release of 9,432,299 tonnes of CO2 over the next ten years, a significant step in the fight against climate change.
While we are based in the UK, we chose to support a global project in the Brazilian Amazon rather than a local UK-based initiative because offset projects in developing countries often provide broader global benefits. These projects can also be more cost-effective, allowing us to offset a larger volume of emissions for the same investment. By choosing this path, we can make a more significant and far-reaching impact on the environment while supporting sustainable development in areas that need it most.
We’re proud to be part of this essential project alongside other forward-thinking companies like KPMG and Telefonica, who are also backing the CIKEL Brazilian Amazon REDD APD Project.
Our achievement in becoming carbon neutral is just one of the many steps we are taking to be more environmentally conscious and responsible. This milestone is a testament to our company’s commitment to sustainability, and it sets a strong foundation for further efforts to minimise our environmental footprint.
We look forward to continuing our journey toward a greener future, and we hope this news inspires all of us to continue making sustainable choices every day.
