Growing the team in Service Charge

At Fortus, we pride ourselves on working with the most knowledgeable, courageous and distinctive individuals to better support our ambitious clients. Partnered with our incredible year on year growth, it was fantastic to welcome on board Fraser Akehurst as Associate Director earlier this year to help lead our award-winning national Service Charge team, bringing with him a depth of technical knowledge, vast experience and passion for the world of Service Charge.
Fraser started his career in external audit at a top 5 firm where he achieved chartered status. During his tenure, he found a passion and a skill set very well suited to Service Charge accounting, a role where he’s dedicated the last decade of his life. His career’s seen him work with some of the largest managing agents in the country, from performing ISA 800 audits and bespoke agreed upon procedures on large scales, to guiding his clients to achieving best in industry quality accounts. During his time there, he oversaw the management of a team responsible for issuing over 3,000 individual opinions per year.
Since joining our team here at Fortus, Fraser’s been instrumental in helping further grow our South offering, seeing our Southampton based team of Service Charge experts double in size over the past 6 months, bringing together knowledgeable and passionate individuals to best serve our clients. This growth’s coincided with Fortus’ own expansion in the South, which gave birth to the opening of our new Southampton based office in Ocean Village in June this year, a fitting setting for this ambitious group.
Working closely as one team with our other Service Charge specialists based in Milton Keynes, the past few months have seen some fantastic collaborations, enabling our team’s processes and abilities to evolve. With the in-depth knowledge of our processes from our more long standing team members, mixed with the fresh perspective of our recent new joiners, this has given us the perfect recipe and platform to deliver on our commitment for exceptional client service. From releasing a bespoke, best practice solution to the creation and compliance reporting of Service Charge accounts, to the development and implementation of a soon-to-be unveiled project management system, the team here at Fortus Service Charge have flourished into a passionate team of experts that I’m proud to not only lead, but learn from.
