The Fortus Team

Wednesday 15th June saw the much-anticipated Fortus Corporate Golf Day in “full swing” supporting the Northampton Saints Foundation.

We’re incredibly proud to have collaborated with such an amazing charity, who aim to use their values INSPIRE, SUPPORT, and EDUCATE to help create better opportunities for young people through bespoke pathways that make a difference in their future.

To sum up, the day got off to a fantastic start and continued that way!

The weather couldn’t have been better (although there were some red faces and awkward tan lines by the end of the day). Bacon baps were provided for breakfast, as well as refreshments, which were much needed before a big game ahead. After some networking and finding team mates, everyone made their way to their starting point out on the Staverton Park Golf course.

On the day we had 13 teams in total – a great turnout! Throughout the day, Senior Corporate Finance Manager Paula Carter and Employer Brand Executive Rayna McNair whizzed round on the golf buggies, providing everyone with much needed refreshments and snacks. Meanwhile, the £25k cash prize on Hole 12 was being guarded and monitored by Gary Woodhall, Stephen Watts, and Ray McAuley.

Unfortunately, nobody won the £25k cash prize. However…

A HUGE congratulations to Phil Carr, who won the HOLE IN ONE at Hole 16! This wasn’t just any hole in one – it was his first EVER. Phil’s prize was a 2 night stay for 4 people at Marriott Forest of Arden! Set within 10,000 acres of ancient woodland, this 4-star hotel provides luxury hotel rooms as well as a Country Club – providing both golf and spa facilities. Whoever Phil decides to take, they’re very lucky!

Some words from Phil himself about the day as well as his win: “The Fortus golf day at Staverton Park was a wonderful event. The Texas Scramble format was perfect, the weather was outstanding and the golf course was in great condition. Overall a fun day spent meeting new people and playing golf, a day which I will always remember for my first ever hole in one!

Thank you to all the Fortus staff involved, particularly Bruce for organising the event, as well as all the staff at Staverton Park for preparing a great course and excellent food afterwards, and finally thanks to the other members of my Team.” – Phil Carr.

After 4 hours in the blissful weather, everyone finished up on the course. Dragging themselves and their kit back with them, it was time for everyone to have some much-needed grub in the main room. Jordan Letts, Social Inclusion Lead from the Saints Foundation, had spoken again to everyone about the importance of the Foundation, the work that they’re doing, and how everyone’s donations will help so many young people.

The scores were tallied, and we gave a round of applause to 3 further teams…

3rd Place: Alfie Burton, representing Fortus: Mike Davis & Stephen Richardson from Digital Origin, and David Strong from Hexa Consulting

“Digital Origin Solutions were invited to the inaugural Fortus Golf Day and we were really looking forward to the day and it didn’t disappoint. The hospitality shown was first class, it was nice to be able to support a deserved charity in the Saints foundation and although we were pipped at the post in terms of scoring, we’re looking forward to the next event. Great work Fortus!” – Mike Davis, Digital Origin.

2nd Place: Chris Henrick, representing Fortus: Dan Hallet, Pete White, and Warren Turner from Remix Dry Mortar

1st Place Tom Dymond, representing Fortus: Sean Halliwell, Aiden Dunning, and Nick Ripper from EMW

“We had a fantastic day at the Fortus charity golf event in aid of Northampton Saints Foundation. The event was well attended, well organised and Fortus even brought some lovely sunshine with them for the day. A massive thanks to all the people involved in organising the day, and all attendees for raising money for a really fantastic cause. A big special mention also to our Fortus captain on the day, Tom Dymond, who helped lead us to victory – thank you! We’re very much looking forward to the next event!” – Sean Halliwell, EMW.

Overall, it was an amazing turnout with fantastic clients. Not only did we raise essential funds for the Saints Foundation, we also received a massive amount of positive feedback, so we’ll definitely be organising another corporate next year (and maybe even an internal golf event too).
